What is ProtonCMS?
ProtonCMS is a content management system that allows for website owners, administrators, and even users to manage a dynamic website. ProtonCMS is an all-in-one integrated editor, allowing modification of webpages, menu systems, calendars, and the users. ProtonCMS has an easy to use user system with four levels of access--administrator, moderator, user, and anonymous. This allows for content to be public or privately shared within each group type. Yet all of this requires almost no technical skills to setup and create a dynamic website.
Who should use it?
Since ProtonCMS requires practically no technical skill, anyone from user to web administrator should feel comfortable using ProtonCMS. All content is managed through the Admin Panel to allow for a more centralized editing process. In addition, a structured directory lister allows for users to host and browse files in a familiar way.
For users...
ProtonCMS allows for content to be easily updated through the text editor, just type-and-go interface. Adding content is as simple as typing, with dummy proof forms to help protect against possible mistakes and errors. No HTML or CSS knowledge is required, however is completely supported.
For administrators...
ProtonCMS has the tools needed to manage multiple users, all having different levels of access, in a simple point-and-click fashion. Every single webpage has an edit link at the bottom to minimize the time needed to begin editing a page. Also, a permanent link is provided to help users save content in a dynamically changing site.
Seeing is believing
Reading information on a product can be informative, but where is the fun? There is a fully operational demo of ProtonCMS located at http://protoncms.gotdns.com/demo. I have given total control to you, so please try out everything from adding to managing users, webpages, and content.
History behind ProtonCMS
ProtonCMS was started by Jamie Meyers in November, 2003 as personal project to dynamically manage what was to be Transcending Visions, a photo/graphic/music site. Eventually, ProtonCMS became a reality and by October, 2004, went online as an open source development project. Currently, I (Jamie Meyers) am working on ProtonCMS to bring it up to the first stable distribution. Licensing soon to be determined.
